I (kendra) was in the valley all weekend for a swim meet in Portland and it rained all weekend. Now i was in the pool most of the time, but before the meet, after, while we were driving there was just rain, rain rain. and i got to thinking, what can you do in the rain?
well, drive. But running in the rain sucks, camping and rain don't belong in the same sentence, do you go rain hiking? now that sounds awful. And i can't think of anything fun to do in the rain. Like "hooray its RAINING, lets go........." (walk in the rain?) ew.
But the snow, which we have falling here in Bend, there is lots to do in the snow! When it snows it opens up opportunities for fun things like snowboarding or skiing, and if you don't like the mountain there is cross country skiing, and hiking in the snow has its own name and its called snow shoeing, which is amazing! You can go snow camping which is exciting, and sledding, and even build a snowman. The snow means adventure! the snow is fun and exciting!
Rain is so dreary, so depressing, gosh after two whole days i was ready for to come back to Bend. The rain can be loud and obnoxious, and wet, and dark and sad and boring.
But when it snows theres a level of excitement, and at the same time the snow is peaceful, soothing. It falls silently and beautifully. When snow falls its mysterious, and here in central Oregon our snow isn't very wet which is nice, you can walk in the snow and before you enter your home you just stand outside and brush it all off
I don't know about ya'll that live in the valley, maybe the rain has some element of excitement, but I'm pretty sure Ian and i won't be back any time soon. We're happy in the snow!
