Christmas Tree Adventure!

Ian and i are spending Christmas in Bend this year. It will be the first Christmas either of us will be away from our families. We both work Christmas Eve & the day after Christmas, so instead of going to Salem for 24 hours, we're going to kick it at our house. Which we're both really looking forward to. An actual day off, together.

So we decided since we're staying home, that we should get in the spirit! Ian put Christmas lights up, i hung stockings by the fire, brought out some decorations, pulled out all our Christmas CD's, and we thought, to top it all off, lets get a tree!

(this is our cute little wood stove w/stockings!)

Ian refused to pay $20 and buy one from a lot, and insisted we had to go out and chop one down. Fine-by-me. As long as i don't have to get all pitch-y and chop it down!

This is our "lets get a tree!" face.

So a few weeks ago (obvisally before the snow storm -- there was no snow!) we put on our hikin' boots, drove out to Prine-Tucky (prineville) :) and went up to the Ochoco mountains to find the perfect tree!
When we got to the part of the forest we could cut, we walked around, and i found this cute little tree. Not too big, not to tall, wouldn't take up too much room... but my husband had different plans...We crossed a creek...
And he found this monster! This is the tree he wanted to take home. Ya, don't think so! Our house is tooo toooo small for that, its giant! We found we had very different ideas on this whole tree thing.

So we settled on this beauty.

(You can tell, i was being really supportive!

Ian hauled it down the hill, and across the creek, and loaded it on the jeep.

I kept taking pictures, Ian was thrilled. You can tell by the look on his face in the picture.

So anyways, we get the tree home, Ian takes out his tape measure, he measures how much room there is from the floor to the ceiling, and adds in the tree stand, and is doing all these calculations to get the tree to fit just right. I of course keep my self busy, and add no input. Its tree, and saw, and garage stuff -- i've leared -- i stay out of it. So he's in and out of the house, in the garage chopping and trimming and he brought it in the house....and he cut the ENTIRE bottom off! -- not how i would have done it -- he cut too much off the bottom, and it doesn't even reach our ceiling!

I walk in and say "wow! its short" and he was not pleased.

He calls it our Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. I'm not convinced its that bad. Its a cute, humble little tree.

He was ready to go down to a lot and pay $20!

But i think its a perfect 1st Christmas Tree.
